Fun Florida Tours Night Shelling & Snorkeling

Sarasota ยท Siesta Key ยท Anna Maria Island

The ocean
after dark is a different world.

Most shelling happens at sunrise โ€” the real magic happens after the sun goes down. Wade into shallow, calm water behind a 10,000-lumen LED light pod and find shells, seahorses and crabs that daylight never shows you.

The experience

75 minutes, start to shell-covered finish.

Small guided groups share one LED light pod that turns the sea floor into a lit stage โ€” every step is built around staying safe, together, and close to shore.

01

Check-in & gear up

Meet your guide at the location's listed address. We fit aqua socks, a glow stick, noodle and whistle, and run a short safety briefing.

02

Wade in

Walk into shallow water โ€” never more than 4 feet deep โ€” together as a group, guided by your tour leader.

03

Search & discover

Use the group's LED pod to search the sand for shells, crabs, seahorses and fish drawn out by the dark.

04

Keep what's empty

Empty shells go in your bag to keep. Anything alive is observed briefly, then returned to the water.

05

Wrap up

Back on shore after about 75 minutes with a full bag of shells and a new favorite Florida story.

Our shelling policy โ€” we protect marine life. Only empty shells may be kept; any living creature (crabs, seahorses, fish, hermit crabs) is gently observed and returned to the sea.

Three bays, one low tide of light

Pick your shoreline.

Every tour runs the same guided format at 8:30 PM nightly (weather permitting) โ€” the shells, current, and shoreline are what make each spot different.

Must book by text in advance

Traveling with a child 5 or under? They join free with a parent, but must book ahead by texting 941-782-9226 and bring their own properly-fitted life jacket and water shoes โ€” we don't provide swim gear for guests this young, since they'll need hands-on supervision rather than shelling equipment.

Questions before you text us

How do I actually book a spot? +

Text 941-782-9226 with your preferred date, location and party size, or tap "Book" on any location above to open that tour's live calendar. Most nightly departures are confirmed directly by text.

Is this safe for young kids? +

Yes โ€” the whole tour stays in water under 4 feet deep, and every guest wears a safety noodle, whistle and glow stick. If a young child needs a break, guides walk them to a lit resting area on shore where you can keep shelling from the beach.

What do we need to bring? +

Just your swimsuit. Aqua socks, snorkel gear, glow sticks, safety noodles, whistles and a collection bag are included. Guests 5 and under should bring their own properly-fitted life jacket and water shoes.

What happens if the weather turns? +

Tours run rain-or-shine as long as conditions are safe. If a guide calls a tour for weather, we'll reach out by text to reschedule โ€” text us any time you're unsure before heading out.

Do we get to keep what we find? +

Any empty shell is yours to keep. Living creatures โ€” crabs, seahorses, fish, hermit crabs โ€” are observed for a moment and released back into the water.
